Cantabria, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Ceuta and Melilla are joining the electronic prescription system for workers protected by FREMAP, a Mutual Insurance Company collaborating with Social Security. 

Following the success of the pilot phase that began last March in Albacete, the Balearic Islands, Las Palmas, Tenerife, Asturias and Álava, the electronic prescription system continues to advance in its territorial implementation with the incorporation of Cantabria, Extremadura, Galicia, the Community of Madrid, the Region of Murcia, Ceuta and Melilla.

This expansion is part of the gradual rollout planned by the General Council of Pharmaceutical Colleges, following the agreements signed in 2025 to promote the digitalization of pharmaceutical services derived from work accidents and occupational diseases.

Thanks to this new phase, thousands of protected workers will be able to access their prescribed treatments more quickly, safely and conveniently at pharmacies in these territories, avoiding in-person procedures and improving continuity of care.

The electronic prescription system of mutual insurance companies is integrated into the computer systems of pharmacies through the Nodofarma platform, allowing the pharmacist to consult and dispense prescribed medicines and health products directly from their usual management application. This interoperability facilitates access to pharmaceutical services and strengthens the safety and traceability of treatments.

The addition of these seven new territories confirms FREMAP's and the collegiate pharmaceutical organization's commitment to the digital transformation of healthcare. Electronic prescriptions provide greater security in the prescription and dispensing of medications, improve the monitoring of treatments, and facilitate access to pharmaceutical benefits for workers when they suffer a work accident or occupational disease.

With each new implementation, the system gets closer to the goal of offering fully interoperable coverage throughout Spain, contributing to more accessible, coordinated care adapted to the needs of healthcare workers and professionals.
