How to act in case of a work accident

When a workplace accident occurs, it is essential to act quickly and follow a clear protocol. This guide summarises the essential steps according to the severity of the accident, the legal communication obligations and the support available through FREMAP.

Immediate action

  • Attend to the worker and call 112 without delay.
  • Contact FREMAP - 24-hour Emergencies: 900 61 00 61 to coordinate healthcare.

Do not move the worker, except in cases of imminent danger.

  • Apply basic first aid if possible.
  • Secure the accident area and stay calm.

Coordination with health services

  • Provide all relevant information.
  • After stabilising the situation, inform your personal FREMAP manager to continue managing the accident.

Transfer to FREMAP

  • Take the worker to FREMAP centre nearest (checkable on the web or app).
  • If you have any questions, please call 900 61 00 61.

Medical indications

  • The worker will receive the diagnosis and treatment.

Accident with sick leave:

  • The company must process the report within 5 business days following the date of the accident or the sick leave.

Accident without sick leave:

  • A monthly report is prepared within the first 5 business days of the following month.

Serious, very serious or fatal accidents:

  • They must be notified to the labour authority within a maximum of 24 hours.

Occupational disease:

  • The initial communication of the work-related illness report made by FREMAP through the CEPROSS computer application must be carried out within 10 working days following the date of diagnosis. To this end, the company must submit the information requested by the management company or the mutual society so that the latter can comply with the aforementioned deadlines.
