Management of Temporary Disability due to Non-work-related Contingencies

At FREMAP, we are there to help you if you suffer from a non-work-related illness or an injury from a non-work-related accident and you are unable to work, actively collaborating with the public health service (SPS) and using our own resources in your recovery:

  • Medical appointment and consultation from receiving the certificate.
  • Evaluation and monitoring by our healthcare staff.
  • Request for diagnostic tests to expedite treatments.
  • Telephone or in-person consultations depending on the situation.
  • Motivated discharge proposals in coordination with the SPS and the National Institute for Social Security (INSS).

Thanks to the FREMAP Contigo website/app, you can find out about your appointments and diagnoses; access your medical history and medical tests; and download reports and electronic prescriptions at any time. 

If your primary care physician has issued you a sick leave certificate, we are responsible for the financial benefit for this temporary disability, and the amount you are entitled to is:

This financial benefit is paid directly by FREMAP in these situations:

  • Termination of the employment relationship or suspension in the case of fixed-term intermittent workers (while you are on sick leave, you will receive the same amount that corresponds to you for unemployment and you will consume unemployment time).
  • The payment of the benefit is not received by the company.
  • Having exhausted the 545-day period of sick leave.
  • This refers to a worker who is legally excluded from receiving this payment from their company, such as:
    • Trade Representatives
    • Artists
    • Bullfighting professionals
    • Agricultural workers
    • Domestic workers (from the 9th day of leave)
    • Workers in groups 2 and 3 of the Special Sea Workers Regime.
    • Being on redundancy plan/temporary redundancy pan
    • Being in a situation of partial retirement.
    • A relapse occurs while unemployed.

Through FREMAP With You or submitting this documentation to FREMAP:

  • Request for the benefit: 
  • Family Record Book.
  • If the seniority in the last company is less than 180 days, employment history report and certificate of contribution bases issued by the General Treasury of the Social Security. You can request them here.
  • In addition, the following applies to these cases:
    • Agricultural workers:
      • Photocopy of the payslip for the month of the leave and up to 3 previous months if you were employed by the company during that period.
      • Certificate of actual working days for the last 6 years issued by the General Treasury of the Social Security.
