What is retraining?

FREMAP's Professional Rehabilitation programme offers training and support to people whose previous work activity cannot continue after a work accident or work-related illness. It constitutes the final phase of the comprehensive recovery process, in which training, emotional support and career guidance are combined to build a new professional project adapted to each situation.

The training programmes can be carried out in person at the Vocational Training Centre integrated into the FREMAP Complex in Majadahonda (Madrid); or be carried out in a virtual format, adapting to the circumstances of the injured workers, to facilitate access for each student.

Following the theoretical and practical training received in the classroom, students will be able to complete 240 hours of non-work placements in companies, thereby improving their employability. Furthermore, they will have the continuous support of the Labour Intermediation Service which supports the transition to new professional opportunities and reinforces the confidence that, even in the most difficult times, it is really possible to start over.

Who is it designed for?

Vocational rehabilitation is aimed at all workers who have suffered an accident at work or work-related illness and are in one of these three situations:

  • They are on prolonged temporary disability leave, having lost their jobs.
  • They have been recognised as disabled by Social Security, and are therefore unable to return to their usual occupation.
  • They have been discharged as cured without a year having passed since the date of the accident or work-related illness.

What does retraining include?

Technical and professional training

Training programmes that combine theory and practice to acquire new skills adapted to each person's current abilities.

Skills for employability

Training geared towards returning to the job market: digital skills, active job search, interview preparation, or professional communication.

Customised integration itineraries

An individualised social assessment is carried out that takes into account each person's age, physical sequelae, previous educational level, emotional situation and expectations.

Training with grants

The programmes may include training and travel grants to facilitate participation, especially in situations of economic vulnerability.

Internships in companies

Students can complete 240 hours of work placements to improve employability, gain real-world experience, and develop professional skills.

What training do we offer?

Our training offer includes courses in administrative and technical areas, as well as specialised workshops, which can be taken in person or virtually depending on their nature. The courses last between 5 and 10 months, and can be started in September or February.

  • It also tracks past promotions and maintains an active Employment Office.
  • Their intervention is key to turning training into real opportunities, reinforcing the message that reintegration into the workforce can be possible even after serious injuries or prolonged periods of disability.
